Are rehabilitation clinics and detoxification clinics the same?

Rehabilitation clinics and detoxication clinics are different, however they do often overlap. In fact, many, if not most, inpatient rehab programs offer detoxification programs to patients, allowing them to participate in their standard rehabilitation program upon completing the detox process. To decrease the likelihood of health complications associated with withdrawal symptoms and to minimize the chances of relapse, it is important that the patient completes detox in a supporting environment, with trained medical staff on hand to keep withdrawal symptoms under control.

That said, most of the true recovery work is actually completed during the rehabilitation portion of treatment. These one-on-one therapy sessions, group therapy sessions and other complementary methods of therapy can help addicts get to the root cause of their addiction and help addicts make the types of lifestyle changes they need to continue sobriety for years to come.
